A few updates from SCPD …

We’ve had a great few months … I am a bit delayed in updating with some new material.

First, we had a great experience working with colleagues from South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand on a paper comparing the evolution of mining communities across the four countries (Canada being the fourth). That paper is now available in Land Use Policy https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S026483771731517X

Second, a paper titled “Mapping Institutional Work as a Method for Local Strategy; learning from boom/bust dynamics in the Canadian west” has been published in Environmental Planning & Management with coauthors Dr. Van Assche and Dr. Gruezmacher from the University of Alberta. The link is here: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/09640568.2018.1443800

Third, a paper is in press in the Western Geographer. Nushrat Jahan as the first author – a recently completed Master’s student who is just about to begin her PhD at the University of Waterloo. Our paper is an Economic Framework for Resource-Based Communities using Devon Alberta as a case-study. As soon as it is available, I will provide the link.
Fourth, three additional papers have been accepted with revisions and as soon as they’re available, I will provide links.
We are currently in New Orleans at the American Association of Geographers Conference. Such incredible papers but such a wide range of geographers from around the world.
Thanks very much and I will update more often I hope!
